The Waltham Forest Windrush Awards 2026 will recognise people who are living in, working in, from or have made a significant contribution to Waltham Forest.

Celebrating a young person (under 30) carrying forward positive values, community spirit and future legacy.
Honouring a person whose contribution reflects and strengthens Windrush legacy.
Recognising civic contribution and commitment to community life.
Celebrating someone who has actively supported, championed or stood alongside the Windrush community and its legacy.
The Waltham Forest Windrush Awards are being developed through the Waltham Forest Windrush Community Consortium, coordinated by Skills Within Developments CIC and Great British Carnival CIC, in partnership with Bob Baker of Heritage Associates and connected to the wider work of Windrush Season 2026.
The awards provide an opportunity to recognise people whose contribution, leadership, care, creativity, service and community spirit deserve to be seen and celebrated.
The Waltham Forest Windrush Awards will also be featured in the first edition of Afiwe, a community publication developed from the work of the Waltham Forest Windrush Community Consortium.

The Windrush Season 2026 Edition will help share the awards story, celebrate local voices and encourage nominations from across the borough.
The first Waltham Forest Windrush Awards celebration is planned for October 2026.
